forced Wortley in the 'Cauther goal into almost as good a save from another dead ball effort five minutes from the break before heading a Gowan's delivery over from good position. Right on the interval King and ex-Blackburn player Anthony McLaughlin were involved in a nasty clash of heads as the 'keeper pushed away a dangerous corner kick. After lengthy treatment for both players each left the pitch not to return for the second half.

With no substitute 'keepr thanks to Darren Mitchell's long term knee injury, Blackburn were forced into puting top scorer McQuillan between the sticks at the start of the second half with striker Ross Donnelly replacing the stricken King and the stand-in watched as Love hit a shot from Mochan's low cross just past his left hand post. On the hour mark Marshall intercepted a loose defensive pass to race into space and set up Donnelly on the left but when the strikers return pass was rolled in front of him he could only direct his shot past at full stretch before, at the other end, McInnes picked out Devine who controlled on his chest and hit a half volley that was deflected over. Gowans then broke on the Blackburn right to slide in Donnelly but his parting shot from just inside the angle of the eighteen yard box was saved, as was his header from a Herriot cross some ten minutes later. The Hermand Park men then came agonisingly close to equalising when Herriot could only half clear a dangerous free-kick but when Devine's right footer thumped back off the upright Mochan could only direct his follow up wide of the same post. However, just as the referee's watch reached ninety minutes Blackburn secured the three points that took them back to the top of the league when Donnelly did well to escape the attentions of Tinning on the right byeline and when his cut back landed at the feet of fellow substitute Darren FLEMING he did quite brilliantly to back heel the ball past a flat footed Wortley. Two minutes into added on time DONNELLY himself put further shine on the scoreline when linking with Fleming to lift a dipping half volley past Wortley from just inside the area after outmuscling Fyffe to get to the ball.

Looking to repeat the performance if not the result from last weeks Scottish Junior Cup tie, Blackburn were ahead early when Fraser Spence and Andy McQuillan combined to help Ewan Herriot's throw from the right onto Chris MARSHALL at the back post who swivelled to direct his shot into the bottom left hand corner. Herriot was again the creator ten minutes later but his cross after accepting a pass from Aaron Gowans was headed wide by McQuillan. At the other end Gavin King was alert to save a Love header at his left hand post but it was Blackburn who again threatened when Wortley in the visiting goal had to be vigilant to touch Craig Young's free-kick around the junction of his post and bar. A glancing header by Devine then sneaked past King's upright and moments later the same striker stepped up to hit a free-kick from twenty yards out that King  brilliantly   tipped  over  the  top.  McQuillan  then
