Season 1981/82
Alex Clark replaces Jim Irvine but is sacked  before the opening match of the season and Bobby Seaton takes his place, although he leaves before Autumn is out to take over at Dalkeith Thistle with John Jamieson replacing him.

Out on the park this was the time to build towards a push for promotion after a promising debut season and things were going to plan until a poor run of form that resulted in three defeats in our last six matches put paid to any hopes of a move up to the top flight. It was around this time that Fauldhouse United and Broxburn Athletic made bids for prolific striker Alex Mcichael but the club turned both down only to see Alex hang up his boots at the end of the season.

The Cup competitions didn't hold much in the way of glory either, with the best performance coming in the 2-1 defeat at mighty Glenafton Athletic in the 3rd round of the Scottish Junior Cup.

At the end of the campaign we were again left looking for a new manager when John Jamieson resigned to take the helm at Shotts Bon Accord. Also leaving for pastures new were Harvey Ryan and Timmy Brady who both signed for Division B champions Fauldhouse United.

Season 1980/81
Our first season in Junior football started with the club securing a shirt sponsorship deal with distillers Whyte & Mackay who also sponsored a player of the month award. On the debit side, star striker Alan Irvine was signed by Hibernian on the eve of the league campaign. On the park we exceeded most people's expectations, with good form shown in both the League and local Cup competitions. However, we suffered a humiliating defeat at Newbyres Park, going down 11-0 to Division A runners-up Arniston Rangers in the 1st round of the Dryburgh Cup. Incidentally, this still stands today as our worst ever result.

In the Scottish Junior Cup the team received a bye in the 1st round but we then went down 2-0 at Murrayfield Park to another top division side in the shape of Stirlingshire outfit Sauchie.

Perhaps our most convincing display of the season also came against a Division A side and resulted in the 4-1 defeat of Tranent in a home replay of a 1st round Robertson Homes Cup tie. As the season ended with seventh place in Division B secured, manager Jim Irvine resigned due to commitments that would see him unavailable for most Saturday afternoons and the club subsequently advertised for  a "full-time, experienced coach" to fill the vacancy.
