Sauchie 3
Kelly 18mins & 83mins, Beaton 65mins
Blackburn United 0

Sauchie opened the brighter and on six minutes Kelly tried his luck from a free kick twenty five yards out but the ball flew just over. Up the other end Alan Brown slid Lee Docherty into space inside the box but a bad first touch let Mathie close the angle & block the shot. The opener came on eighteen minutes when, after claims for handball in the middle of the park, the ball was fed wide to KELLY who cut inside and let fly from twenty yards and it sailed over Francis Carlin’s outstretched hand and into the net. Blackburn attempted to get back on level terms and after good work by Brown and Steph McCardie the latter turned his man on the edge of the area but his shot drifted well wide. A few minutes later Peter Lynch and Martin Stewart combined well on the right, the resulting cross from Lynch enticing a looping header from Brown that was touched over the bar by Mathie. Kelly again tried his luck from distance on the thirty five minute mark but Carlin held the shot. Ahead of the interval Wright saw his header fly narrowly wide before United moved up the other end and a Lee Docherty snap shot flew well over.

A few minutes into the second half Jordan Rintoul limped off to be replaced by David Fowler and it was he who nearly grabbed the equaliser almost immediately when Stewart flighted the ball into the box and Fowler dived full length from the penalty spot only to see his header sneak inches wide. On the hour mark Sauchie nearly doubled their lead when Lee Docherty gave the ball away to Comrie deep inside his own half and he strode forward but fired his shot just wide. The homesters were not to be denied however and on sixty five minutes a Kelly corner saw a completely unmarked BEATON, no more than threee yards out, stoop to head the ball past the stranded Carlin. Blackburn were now up against it and with fifteen minutes left sub Andy McQuillan turned his man on the edge of the area but his snap shot flew high and wide. On eighty three minutes the Beechwood Park men wrapped up the points when a cross from Thomson on the right saw the ball bounce across the box for KELLY to fire his second high past Carlin. McQuillan then went close for United as did Wright up the other end and there was also time left for Mathie to touch an Ian Graham shot wide for a corner, but there was to be no further scoring.
