only three minutes later when Donnelly linked with David Swan only to be tripped by Morrison as he made his way into the box. From the resultant penalty Craig YOUNG slammed the ball into the bottom left hand corner. The lead was short lived however and when the games second penalty was award after Williamson had tugged Duff's shirt at a Page free-kick. O'CONNOR made as exemplary a job from the spot as Young had moments earlier. Just before the break Young had a pop from distance that Franklin held at the second attempt.
The stop-start nature of the first half had limited United's opportunities in front of goal but as the game began to open up in the second period so Blackburn began to find some rhythm to their play and McQuillan guided an effort just past the left hand upright after being set up by Campbell. John Drummond then got his head onto a Young corner but his header hit the base of the same post. Rosyth, too, managed to carve out a chance but O'Connor blazed over. Substitute Aaron Gowans carved out United's next opportunity, reaching the right bye-line and pulling the ball back for Donnelly but his goalbound strike was blocked. Five minutes later though United were eventually rewarded and it was Gowans who again made room on the right before sliding the ball back to the edge of the area where CAMPBELL had peeled off his marker to rifle a cracker past the despairing dive of Franklin. With nerves calmed, a couple of half chances then came and went before, two minutes from time, Swan did brilliantly to trick his way into space on the left to deliver a cross that Gowans knocked back into the centre of the six yard box for McQUILLAN to calmly side foot home and secure another vital win.

The visitors from Fife inflicted United's only league defeat so far this season in the reverse fixture at Recreation Park back in September although a 3-0 win for Blackburn a month later in the Fife & Lothian's Cup had already secured a modicum of revenge. With just five minutes on the clock Danny Campbell forced Franklin in the Rosyth goal into action, curling in an effort from the left corner of the eighteen yard box that looked destined for the roof of the net until the 'keeper's fingertips intervened. At the other end, a long ball dropped in the United box and when Ross Williamson and Gavin King hesitated and appeared to leave it to each other O'Connor almost took advantage but King recovered to block his shot. Andy McQuillan then played a clever one-two with Ross Donnelly to earn some space on the right of the area but his shot hit the side netting. The opening goal, though, arrived
