With four changes to the side that started the weekend win over Larkhall Thistle, United found themselves a goal down inside the first sixty seconds when a low cross into the box from the left was fired home first time by CUMMING from around eight yards out. However, after Danny Campbell had come close twice and Ross Mitchell had fired an effort just over from the edge of the box Blackburn were level when Campbell set up Fraser Cormack on the left of the area to pick out Andy McQUILLAN to take a touch and thump home. Two minutes later Ross Gowrie, on for the injured Jack McLaren, fed McQuillan and his early delivery allowed MITCHELL to guide a header back across goal and in. The lead was then duly doubled just before the interval when McQUILLAN robbed Anderson of possession and drove into the box to calmly pass the ball beyond the 'keeper and into the net.
Just like the weekend win, the second period was one of much fewer opportunities but further gloss was eventually put on the scoreline three minutes from the end when McQuillan took advantage of a slip to lay the ball off to GOWRIE supporting on his left and he drove his finish high past Stevenson to round off the scoring.
