to crash a header in off the underside of the bar. McQuillan was then the creator of the next chance, clipping a ball from deep down the right where Campbell was tenacious in winning possession from an out of position Adamson but when his shot from a tight angle was blocked and fell to McQuillan his hurried effort flew well over. Campbell then had a near post shot saved by Adamson as Blackburn continued in the ascendency before, right on forty five minutes, McQUILLAN displayed strength and hunger, coupled with no little pace, to outpace and outmuscle Tully and send his shot flying past Adamson and into the net just as the covering Doubleday stretched to try and intervene.
Five minutes into the second half Swan linked with Campbell to burst into the Oakley box only to be sent tumbling by a clumsy Kellichan challenge and from the resultant spot kick captain Craig YOUNG made no mistake. Little more than sixty seconds later Adamson was beaten for a fourth time, Swan lifting in a tempting cross that CAMPBELL glanced past the home 'keeper with a nod of his head. Shortly thereafter the hosts were reduced to ten men when Doubleday earned his second booking of the afternoon for the latest in a series of fouls and moments later Fraser Spence tested Adamson with a shot from the edgge of the area which was well held. However, a fifth Blackburn goal wasn't long in coming and when Swan set up Aaron Gowans on the right his near post cross was fairly bulleted into the top right hand corner by the head of McQUILLAN for the strikers hat-trick. Five minutes later it was substitute Ross DONNELLY who got in on the act, sending a cute back heeler past Adamson from around six yards out after Swan had jinked his way to the left byeline and pulled the ball back into his path. Before the end Donnelly almost added his own second but his header from Young's corner crept narrowly past.

A pitch both uneven and heavy, accompanied by a fine drizzle of rain, wasn't the best platform for either team but Blackburn tried to make the best of it in the opening stages, Danny Campbell breaking clear on the left to whip in a cross that was only just missed by the arriving Andy McQuillan before Gordon Wilson weighted a pass inside Moore for David Swan to race onto, dance past Doubleday and hit a shot that was deflected wide. However, when their opportunity arrived it was the hosts who opened the scoring, Murray breaking a John Drummond tackle twenty yards from goal for the ball to roll into the path of CONNELLY who steadied himself to arrow an angled drive from the right corner of the eighteen yard box across goal and in off the bottom of the left hand post. Oakley's lead, though, was short lived and Blackburn were back level just four minutes later, Campbell making ground on the right to find enough time and space to lift the perfect cross onto the back post where McQUILLAN had timed his arrival perfectly
