that Easton fumbled before clinging onto it. At the other end Martin was on the end of another Slater shot for another header that, this time, called Gavin King into action for a routine hold. The half ended as it had begun, Young instigating a move that saw Williamson find Macarthur for an angled shot that Easton once again juggled before being able to save. It was to be the strikers last contribution as he had to limp offf injured pretty much straight thereafter.

A left to right ball from Young early in the second period allowed Campbell the space to control on his chest and power in from the right and drill a shot on the run that Easton saved before Macarthur's replacement, Fraser Cormack, had to limp off too. Seconds later Blackburn eventually opened the scoring when Campbell found Williamson who rolled a pass inside Maxwell for the arriving McQUILLAN to lash past Easton and into the net. Two minutes further on and McQuillan almost repeated the trick but from Campbell's cut back his effort drifted wide. Continuing his barrage of the visitors goal, McQuillan then looped a header over the top before setting up Campbell to slide a shot home only to be pulled up for the latest in a series of close offside calls. Next, a half cleared Young cross was met by James Mildren whose shot clipped the top of the bar on the way over. With three minutes remaining a McQuillan cross found Campbell only for his header to slip wide. However, just as the referee's watch was ticking into time added on a deserved second goal for Blackburn eventually materialised, Young firing a ball forward for Campbell who, on sensing he was in an offside position, left it for Scott Mackie to lift over the head of the outrushing Easton from way out on the right to alloow McQUILLAN to race onto and help over the line under pressure from McDiarmid.

In warm, late August sunshine Craig Young created the first chance of the afternoon when picking out Dean Macarthur on the edge of the Edinburgh box but although an excellent first touch took him past Armstrong his shot was dragged past the left hand upright. Young was the creator of the next opportunity too, his free-kick from the right being only half cleared amidst claims for hand ball and when it fell for Andy McQuillan he spun and hit a a powerful effort right down the throat of Easton in the visiting goal. The men from the capital were looking dangerous too and Martin went close with a header from Slater's right wing cross.  A perfectly weighted Ross Williamson pass inside Maxwell then put Danny Campbell in on the right but his first touch took him a little too wide and Easton was able to tip his shot past. Keeping up the pressure Campbell  then  set up  Macarthur  for a swerving  effort
