effort over the top when it looked easier to score. Primrose too came close before the break but a fine, one handed save from Darren Mitchell was enough to deny Forbes.
Mildren came close to adding his and Blackburn's second around the fifty minute mark but his header from Campbell's corner was saved. However, from the resultant corner the United lead was indeed doubled when Campbell's short flag kick was gathered by Chris Marshall and when he tricked his way past McComish the midfielder tripped him to give away a spot kick that Martin LAWRIE emphatically blasted past Wilson. A Higgins block moments later denied Campbell after he'd taken receipt of a Gordon Wilson throw-in but the third Blackburn goal was only delayed and arrived when Scott Mackie sent Campbell clear and when Mitchell flicked his pass into the path of McQUILLAN the striker calmly rounded 'keeper Wilson and picked his spot beyond Higgins who had tried to get back onto the line to block. Mitchell then came close from a Campbell cross before McQuillan had a goalbound effort that was blocked and when the ball rolled in front of Aaron Gowans he was unlucky to see hs snap shot thump the right hand post. With eight minutes remaining the Humbug Park men grabbed a consolation when FORBES escaped on the left to squeeze a shot under Darren Mitchell but any slim hopes of a late, late comeback were extinguished when some two minutes later Devaney earned a straight red for an awful, studs up challenge on young Ewan Herriot.

Crossgates were making their return to the junior game after having to go into abeyance in the opening months of the 2015/16 campaign and an enthusiastic opening from ther hosts on a slightly uneven pitch initially made matters difficult for United. However, after eighteen minutes of uneventful action around either goalmouth Blackburn eventually found the breakthrough when A Danny Campbell corner from the right was headed on by Ross Mitchell to the feet of James MILDREN who gleefully drove it low past Wilson in the home goal. At the other end Devaney's half volley across the face of goal sneaked past. Just before the half hour mark United really should have been two ahead but after some terrific work on the left by Andy McQuillan ended with him hitting the byeline and pulling the ball back to the edge of the six yard box it was from there and with the goal at his mercy that Mitchell managed to put his
