United had ran out comfortable 5-0 winners the last time a Berwick Rangers development side had travelled to the Dem-master Community Stadium so the visitors were well on their way to giving a better account of themselves when CONROY opened the scoring after fifteen minutes with a shot from the edge of the box that flew past Gavin King and in at the bottom left hand corner. At the other end Danny Campbell almost matched the effort but his shot from similar distance whizzed past the junction of post and bar before Conroy was again a threat, setting up Galloway for a snap shot that was blocked. United, though, equalised shortly thereafter when Campbell set up Dean Macarthur on the left to hit a shot cum cross that Andy McQUILLAN deftly redirected into the waiting net.
Three minutes into the second period McQUILLAN was on the score sheet again, getting onto Fraser Cormack's low one across the six yard box to slide the ball home. However, the lead was relatively short lived and when GALLOWAY got across James Mildren on the right he whipped his shot past Darren Mitchell for the equaliser. Parity, though, was even shorter lived when, two minutes later, Fraser Clarkson put McQuillan through on goal and when his sixteen yarder was saved TRIALIST was on hand to clip the ball past the stranded 'keeper. After a flurry of substitutions by both sides Macarthur almost doubled Blackburn's lead with a daisy cutter that was well saved before, six minutes from the end, Berwick found their third and equalising goal when Mooney flicked the ball into HENDERSON'S path and he cracked a beauty high past Mitchell and into the roof of the net.
